Swimming At KHS

Becca enjoys Open Swim at KHS

Open swim allows kids and adults to take advantage of the swimming pool at KHS. Becca loves going to open swim because it gives her a chance to work on her swimming strokes.

The teacher in charge of Open Swim is one of Biz's PE teachers, who is also the swim coach. During a lull, the teacher showed Becca and some other students, different swimming techniques.

Becca began diving off the starting blocks, learning how to start the first lef of a swim lap. She's also learning how to kick appropriately while in the lane.

This fall, the community's swim club, the Blue Dolphins, kicks into high gear after a several year absence. We're going to try and get Becca to participate. Who knows? This might lead to a high school swimming career!

Bella "Miss Nasty" Visits

Who would have guessed that this beautiful 3 lb. dog would be such a monster! Leslie's baby.

The newest addition to the family is a black-and-white Pomeranian. If she's not had a nap, she can the nastiest little runt we've ever had the pleasure to meet.

Of course, once she's fed, she does better!

Winter Fun

Charles tries out the new snow blade!

Charles tires out the new snow blade Dad had installed on the four-wheeler. Because the blade was so heavy, he had Becca ride on the back!

The blade allowed us to clear the snow from driveways much quicker than we could have accomplished using the snow blower!

We only had three snow storms of six inches each, and only then used the snow blade twice.

Charles by the new shore

Charles by the new Lakeshore

Biz practices with her new Canon camera by taking posed shots of Charles by the new lakeshore.

We took advantage of the receded waters and used the shoreline for the backdrop.

Lake Shore Improvements

Improving the Lake Shore

At the end of last summer, Dad and I secured a permit from DNR to improve our lakeshore. Combined we have more than 100 feet.
We had a contractor come in and lay the stone wall and back fill, but then the weather turned cold.

It wasn't until spring that he came back and finished the top soil. Once that was completed, we had the piers put back in.

As you can see, the water level had receded, but the spring rains had brought the level back up to where it is now over the first step that is shown in the picture.

Becca takes a moment for a picture

 Posing for Pictures!

Just as quickly as the snow came, it melts away. On a nice sunny, cold wintry afternoon, Becca poses for pictures. Biz has become quite the photographer. Here Becca holds DeeDee, as well as striking poses on her own.

Shipshewana Ice Festival

A quick trip to Shipshewana

One of our favorite daytrips is to head up to Shipshewana. This time, however, we decided to stay overnight at Splash Universe. While Becca and Dad swims, Biz shops. She took some wonderful pictures of ice sculptures around town that had debuted during the Shipshewana Ice Festival.

Enjoy!

Snow Fight with Chris

Snow falls during Christmas Week!

Becca and Uncle Chris enjoy the new-fallen snow. While shoveling, Chris is beset by snowballs tossed by Becca. Chris retaliates with a shovelful of snow.

Becca attemps an escape and manages to seek shelter at home. Laughing hysterically, she peels her outerwear and shakes snowflakes on the back door rug.
